Overview
This article is for new retailers connecting an existing eBay account to Omnivore and retailers who have renamed an eBay Business Policy directly on eBay, causing a “Missing eBay Policy” error.
If you rename your existing default eBay postage policy to “basic”, Omnivore will show a red “missing eBay policy” error when you check the policy under Settings → eBay → Shipping.
This happens because renaming an existing eBay shipping policy breaks the link between eBay and Omnivore. Business policies must be created through Omnivore for the connection to work correctly.
How to Fix the Error
Follow these steps in order:
Create a new policy in Omnivore
Go to Settings → eBay → Shipping and create a new policy.Do not name this policy “basic.”
Omnivore will create a corresponding Shipping Policy on eBay.
Move your eBay listings to the new policy
In eBay, reassign all listings from the old “basic” policy (the one you manually renamed) to the new policy created by Omnivore.eBay may not move all listings at once. If it reports errors, repeat the process until all listings are moved.
Delete the old “basic” policy
Once no listings are assigned to it, delete the manually renamed “basic” policy from eBay.Rename the new policy to “basic”
In eBay, rename the newly created (Omnivore-linked) policy to “basic.”Sync the updated policy in Omnivore
Go to Settings → eBay Australia → Shipping in Omnivore and click Sync policy.
The “missing eBay policy” error will now clear.
Why This Works
By creating the policy in Omnivore first and letting it sync to eBay, the link between the systems is preserved. When you later rename the synced policy to “basic” on eBay, Omnivore can still recognise and update it.
Important:
You cannot create the required “basic” policy by renaming an existing eBay policy.
It must be created in Omnivore so the connection between the two systems remains intact.
