Important points

Once you have created a Product Group, you can then use it with a Promotion to change the price of the products in that Product Group.


This is a handy way to group products together and apply different prices to groups of products.


When you create the Product Group for the purpose of using it in a promotion, please be aware of the following points:


  1. Your product group must be as specific as possible in order to ensure the products in the group receive the promo price.  For example, creating a product group using ONLY a group of SKUs in the SKU field is the most specific way to apply a product group.
  2. If you create a group with SKUs and Brand, that is a less specific way to group products because the way we validate the products in that group is based on clear specificity.
  3. Creating a product group based ONLY on your Retailer Category is a way to specify products, but if you use a retailer category and a brand and a SKU, this will weaken the specificity of the group.
  4. NOTE: Do not create a product group that is based on retailer categories while also selecting a specific marketplace. You don't need to, since using ONLY your retailer category in the Product Group is best.  You can set the promotion to be marketplace specific, but not the product group.
  5. When you create a promotion and a product group for that promotion, it is best to check that the products are actually in the group.  To do this, go to Products - On Marketplace - Listed and search using the filter by your Product Group from the drop down. You should see the products via that search.
  6. If you note the product has not got the adjusted prices, check the promotion and also check that the products are in the group correctly.
  7. Consider specificity when creating product groups.


How to Create a Promotion using a product group

  1. Make sure you create the Product Group first.
  2. Go to Promotions, then 'Create new Promotion' in the left-hand navigation menu.
  3. Create the promotion - further instructions are available in this FAQ.
  4. When it comes time to choose which products to apply the promotion to, choose the Product Group from the drop-down. This drop-down group option will appear when you untick the Apply to all Products for Sale option.
  5. Click 'Create promotion'.
