eBay recently announced that active content will not be allowed in eBay listings from 2017.

Active content is a broad term which covers any type of non-standard text that can be included in item descriptions, usually used to provide additional functionality such as cross promotion modules or videos. Examples of active content include JavaScript, Flash, plug-ins and form actions.

The default eBay LINK template currently includes a small amount of active content in the form of JavaScript.

We are currently working on updating the template to remove any active content.

What do I need to do now?

If you are using the default eBay LINK product listing template, you don't need to do anything. We will update this for you.

What if I am using my own customised template?

You will need to test your listings to see if they will comply. If they don't you will need to make changes to your template.
