Why Some Products Appear Under “Other” in Your eBay Store

If your listings are showing up in a default “Other” category in your eBay store, it’s likely because your store is using Custom Store Categories.

Here’s what that means and how to fix it:

What’s Causing It

  • Your Omnivore setup maps products to eBay marketplace categories, not to your store’s custom categories.

  • Even if you’ve created custom categories in your eBay store, Omnivore cannot assign products to them automatically.

  • Any listing that isn’t manually assigned to one of your custom store categories will be placed by eBay into a default “Other items” category.

How to Fix It

  1. Create Custom Store Categories

    • Log in to your eBay Seller account and go to your store settings.

    • Create up to 300 categories and subcategories, with up to three levels deep.

  2. Assign Listings to Your Custom Store Categories

    • In eBay (not in Omnivore), navigate to your Active Listings.

    • Use the “Edit Selected” function to change the “Store Category” for items currently in “Other” to one of your custom categories.

    • Save your changes in eBay.

Things to Know

  • You need to manually assign products to your custom store categories in eBay, because Omnivore doesn’t support mapping to them.

  • Once you assign a product to a custom store category, it won’t be automatically moved by Omnivore during future syncs unless you change the Category in Omnivore.

  • It’s a good idea to regularly review your “Other items” section in eBay—new products without assigned store categories will default there until you categorise them.
